The Ride
Climb aboard for a memorable journey through the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park! Whether you choose our 2-hour half loop departing from Peninsula or the 3.5-hour full loop from Rockside, Peninsula, or Akron Northside Depot, you’ll enjoy a relaxing, round-trip ride filled with scenic views, historic landmarks, and glimpses of local wildlife like deer, herons, and even bald eagles.
Sit back and take in the beauty of the winding Cuyahoga River, lush forests, and charming towns as our train rolls through one of Ohio’s most treasured landscapes. No matter where you board, your adventure ends right where it began—full of unforgettable sights and stories to share.
Seating Options
Coach
Upholstered seating in blocks of four (two seats facing two seats). Tickets for coach seating are good for all day. Guests can get on and off the train to explore the park, visit restaurants or do a little shopping. Pay close attention to the train schedule when planning your day.
Table
Convenience of a dining table coupled with four padded chairs. Please note that tickets for these seats are assigned, and guests remain on board for the full duration of the excursion.
First Class
Luxury seating in the lower level of a dome car. Offers comfortable padded seats and excellent views. Please note that tickets for these seats are assigned, and guests remain on board for the full duration of the excursion.
Dome
Luxury seating with panoramic views. Offers comfortable padded seats and the convenience of a table. Please note that tickets for these seats are assigned, and guests remain on board for the full duration of the excursion.
Lounge
Comfortable seating in a spacious lounge car. Please note that tickets for these seats are assigned, and guests remain on board for the full duration of the excursion.
Open Air Car Lounge
A unique ride experience, available Wednesday through Friday for guests of all ages. The car transforms into an exclusive Cigar & Bourbon Lounge every Saturday and Sunday (guests must be 21 years of age or older.) Bring your favorite cigar or choose from a curated selection available onboard.
Accessibility
Wheel chairs are available at the Akron & Pensinsula Depots.
ADA Compliant Seating
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has a handicap-accessible car with a wheelchair lift and ADA-compliant restroom. Please note: availability may be limited. If this car is available, it will appear as ADA Coach during seat selection.
Please be advised that our hydraulic lift on the ADA Coach has a maximum load capacity. For the safety of both passengers and crew, the total weight placed on the wheelchair lift cannot exceed 450 pounds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there restrooms available on the train?
There are restrooms located throughout the train cars and at our main boarding stations.
How do I find my seat once I am on the train?
The trainmen at the station platform will direct you to your car; once on board, please refer to the seat number on your ticket. Trainmen will assist you in finding your seat and walk through the car to check tickets once the train starts moving.
Is there food on the train?
Our fully stocked café car offers a variety of snacks and beverages. The café car is accessible during the duration of your train ride.
Do you have a gift shop?
Yes. Gifts and souvenirs are available for purchase from our café car.
What forms of payment are accepted in the café car?
We accept cash and all major credit cards except for American Express. We cannot accept personal checks.
(For excursions with served food) If I have an allergy, can I make special accommodations?
We understand the importance of dietary restrictions. Due to the nature of our events, we can only offer vegetarian/vegan meal options at this time. Guests must contact customer service at customerservice@cvsr.org no later than a week prior to their Dinner on the Train event. Any requests received after this time, will not be accommodated. Please note due to the unique nature of our dinners, guests who request a vegetarian/vegan option will not know the meal they receive in advance.
We are unable to make any accommodations for Murder Mystery, Cocktails on Rails and any other event that has a meal or appetizer included in the ticket price.
